About The Artwork
This painting is inspired by the lavender fields that we find in South France, next to villages built on hills with a castle on the top. Here we see the colors of this landscape seen from a distance, like in a dream. In the center of the image there is the sketch of the encoding tag < > that comes in my paintings since 2020. It refers to the empty space that we are called to fill in with our wishes, our dreams and our ideas and plans, and at the same time it represents a new beginning. The painting is ready to be placed on the wall. 'Lavender Fields' belongs to the series Humanize-the-Code which is being presented in the summer of 2022 at Big Screen Plaza in New York City. Kapnissi (Athens, 1966) studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University in Greece and at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands; for a period as a NUFFIC grantee. She is founding member of the Gaidaro group which from 1999-2008 presented projects advocating for wide participation in the art practice and presentation.
