I learned the glaze technique of the old masters. However, they didn't have a wide a range of colors then today. Instead, they created their pictures with layers of color on top of one another. The effect was plasticity and luminosity. The old masters, however, worked with oil paint. I used acyl colors and developed my own form-language. The depth of color is created with many glazes. The colors show through other colors. This gives them a special luminosity and depth. Just like the pictures of old masters.
