This work was inspired by Koi carps. "Le bain des dames" is a beautiful hidden gem for swimming in Marseille, France. The colors are vibrating and it made me think about women swimming into the sea.

About the Artist

Coline Rohart

France

Born in 1994, I am a visual artist based in Marseille, France. I explore the relationship between femininity and force with flamboyant brushstrokes. I paint both the liberation of the body, the heavy gaze of others, and the fragile slipping of self-trust.

Self-taught, I hold a Master’s degree in Political Science from Sciences Po Aix and in Management from Paris Dauphine University.

I love traveling to create site-specific works in places where I can build alternative worlds that enter into dialogue with the location. My pieces have been shown in Marseille, New York, Sedona, and Paris, and twelve of my works now enliven the first floor of the iconic Café de Paris in Monaco. During my most recent residency, I created a room in the legendary rock’n’roll Carlton Arms Hotel in New York.

I dive into themes such as intimacy, strength, and femininity, with my latest series highlighting the liberation of bodies and their imprints. My work serves as a powerful documentation of love—an act of resistance against the constraints of contemporary society. My approach is sensual and guided by emotions, and I build my visual vocabulary through vibrant brushstrokes, photography, and imagery inspired by post-apocalyptic iconography and novels.

My multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculptural work, and 3D scans, allowing my paintings to break free and emerge from the wall. My work balances a playful, cute surface with deeper themes, creating a tension between innocence and intensity, and ultimately offering a gentle yet flamboyant inner consolation.
