ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Female portrait mixing graffiti and acrylic paint. This portrait represents a young black woman. We can decipher, in the middle of the graffiti, the word "sun". The colors and light brought to the subject give cheerfulness to the painting. Femininity is represented here in its duality, strong and fragile at the same time. A few touches of fluorescent paint give a lot of dynamism to the work. There is a graphic touch inspired by urban art. The work is painted on a brushed silver-colored metal support. We also find the collage technique. Hand signed artwork. The painting is in the format 20 x 20cm, then mounted on a white mat in the format 30 x 30 cm, a standard size for framing.

Nathalie Cubéro is a French painter, living and working in Aix-en-Provence, France. Her work is based on several techniques inspired by urban art such as graffiti or stencil, but also academic techniques, like leaf gilding, in a special care to marry the opposites. Nathalie Cubéro is interested in the human being in all that is most secret and intimate, and depicts her characters in ambiguous situations, at the crossroads. Her protagonists find themselves face to face with the outside world, but especially with themselves, in an almost sudden detachment of the visible reality towards the non palpable. Something is happening, but the viewer must find the answers in his own emotions. Made of personal or fictitious stories, her paintings illustrate an insidious threat, an unrequited happiness, a silent gesture, as many situations turned towards the intimacy of each individual, thus titillating the imagination of the spectator.
