I like to paint still life. I pay special attention to the composition. Before painting I put objects together for a long time. I look for the best relationships. I have a collection of different bottles and other objects in the studio. When I choose objects I sometimes add some fruits or vegetables. The main element of this still life is leeks. It was very interesting to me because I had never painted it before. I always paint still lifes in the studio and landscapes outside.

Mato Gereci was born 1957 in Garešnica , Croatia. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Art Zagreb in 1981. Since than he has been working as an Art teacher in an elemtentary school. He is mainly a plain air artist. Mato Gereci is known for his landscapes of Moslavina region in which the artistic content dominates interpretatio and experience. Gereci is a painter who recognizes and feels nature's secters ,beautiy ,grace and harmony revealed to only a selected few. While painting he relies on tradition as well as asserted painting values .He creates his own style at the same time.Landscapes of his Moslavina are portraits that have a soul. They are bathed in the glare of light, almost to whiteness ,or are immersed in hazy softness. The painter records visual impressions rationaly and insctinctively by smudges or strokes which ofen suprise us with their colour. In his latest works the painter abandons the visible in landscape transformation. The shapes has been let to presumption and it is on the verge of abstraction. He is a member of Croatian Association of Fine Artists. In the last 40 years he has exhibited in 30 solo and 100 group exhibitions. In 2008.he was awarded with the Charter of Honour by the town of Garešnica for his long standing work in the field of art.He lives and works in Garešnica.
