Legendary Lemuria, the lost civilization believed to be hidden in the watery depths of the South Pacific merges with photographic slivers of oyster shells found on a pebbled beach in the UK creating a magical collision of ancient and contemporary. A cool, refreshing blend of deep sea blue, turquoise and teal. Video www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_JcLoGLOwc This work has two sets of D rings and wire for your choice of vertical or horizontal hanging (see in situ images). The pattern continues around all sides, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists) .The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity. THE FRAGMENTED COLLECTION The Fragmented Collection is my biggest series to date and one which I return to often. These works use collage techniques to fragment various paintings that have been removed from any support. This enables me to decide which side of the dry paint to show, the side I saw when painting it or the side that painted itself. I think of this as hiding secrets in plain sight. Each finished piece is, therefore, a unique combination of both sides of the original paintings resulting in an explosive blend of vibrant pattern. The more they are looked at the more there is to see.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
