About The Artwork

This work is a part of a series of abstract paintings where I have written (by scratching) quotes and also some other texts stencilled. The quote on this painting is: “Les bateaux sont plus en securité au port, mais ce n’est pas pour cela qu’on construit les bateaux. which means: The boat is safer anchored at the port; but that’s not the aim of boats.” For all my works I use high quality professional material. Windsor& Newton, Senellier or Rembrandt colors and pigments, anti UV varnish for protection. All my works are singed in front and signed and dated on the back and accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. Oil and ink with brush and palette knife

Eleni is visual artist born in Greece. The last 30 years she has lived between Switzerland and France where she actually lives and works. "Gesture, emotion and material", these three words perfectly reflect her artistic approach which emphasizes personal expression, emotional intensity and the manipulation of different techniques. She uses variety of materials, conventional artistic or not, refusing to be limited to one medium. In several works she incorporates natural pigments and organic elements as paper, textile, sand, sawdust, apparently not belonging to the pictorial world, to break down the barriers between art and daily life. To apply the colours she uses brushes, knives, handmade squeegees, sponges, or her hands. After applying the paint, she drags and scrapes up layers of wet or dry paint leaving marks. That gives a nice “used” effect and creates the story of the work. Eleni's goal is to continue working with the same passion she has always had, exploring new ideas and creating works that inspire people and help them see things from a different perspective. Her works are in private collections all over the world. She has exhibited internationally in several solo and group exhibitions.
