This is a non-objective and intuitive mixed-media painting (acrylic, gouache, coffee, ink, charcoal, crayon, marker, etc) on a 1.5" gallery wrapped canvas. The sides are painted grey, and comes ready to hang. Signed and dated on the back. Sealed with a protective matte/semi-gloss UV polymer varnish. Each painting is created and shipped from Amelia Island, Florida. This piece was conceived during a recent artist residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. This is a very ‘quiet’ painting for me and I love how peaceful it seems. This one took me awhile to resolve while considering all of the layers and shapes that are sliding secretly around underneath; all the negative space makes me feel mysterious, yet complex.

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, I now live and work from a studio & gallery on a small barrier island in Northeast Florida. My recent body of work is primarily mixed media painting, and is a discourse of intuitive and non-objective. The process is a marriage of layered acrylic paint, medium, gesso, gouache, ink, charcoal, glazes, washes, handmade paper, collage, tissue, spit, spray paint, and oil sticks on canvas. Gestural sparks of interest are often added with vine charcoal, stickers, and old books, and spliced text. My intention is to create layers of information through my technique; leading your mind's eye on an aesthetic journey through the process of emotion and contradiction. While I relate to a diverse world, the intrinsic nature of my creativity always seems to emerge. I am not a tortured artist, nor are my struggles unique; it really only comes down to what I consider essential characters in my work: Color relationships, humor, energy, and lack of intimidation of the sources and materials I draw from.
