Liberty Horse Painting

The paintings are like poems, or songs. At first glance they seem open, their manufacture and perception is subjective. The motifs display much, reveal little and follow an intuitive impetus, which crystallizes nomadic impressions as random. Formally, they are reminiscent of yesteryear’s tableaux and still lives with oscillating references to the present. By the choice of the pictures’ section issues of intimacy, distance, wildness and taming are restrainedly touched upon and lay a bond to the painted world. Through the gaze of a tender, irritated romantic an associative collection of images evolves, which is ranged by quiet, contemplative melancholy as well as by rambling, blooming exuberance. The images are painted on paper prepared with shine and flaws, an apparent fragility, which confers a poetic dimension to them. By this, materiality in itself influences the motif, which in vivid aesthetics captures a particular "La joie de vivre”. Only in abeyance everything seems in full bloom.
