About "Light Shines in the Darkness "

"For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light."

Imagine…you are in a cave, deep under the earth. There is a small crack in the rock face that runs right up to the top of the mountain. Once a day, when the sun is right above the crack a small, steady stream of light shines down into your cave. You stick your hand out and feel the warmth of that little circle of light. In the complete and utter darkness that little ray of light represents life and hope. The darkness gets pushed away by the light.

Courage is strength in the face of pain and grief

The rich Royal Reds and warm Burnt Sienna is is used symbolically to signify courage. In dark times courage is needed to push through the limitations that fear sets upon us.

Courage is something that frightens me, but in spite of my fear I preservere.

The saturated Blue used in the water and sky represents meanings of depth, truth, trust, loyalty and faith. The color blue has positive affects on the mind and the body.

Blue is the third primary color. It spiritually signifies the Healing Power of God. The very fact that the Sky is blue stands for the presence of God, available to us by looking up or drinking the life giving water.

The Yellow and Gold in the sky is associated with trail by fire, going through the purification process. The trial of faith will be more precious than Gold and be tried with fire. Those that overcomes receives the water of life.

Every painting, whether realistic or abstract, is uniquely destined for the viewer who will recognize the message as his or her own. Each picture is a little glimpse of heaven, a moment in which the Creator speaks a personal and very intimate message to His Chosen Created.

Leonie's current body of work focus on contemporary landscapes in Encaustic and mixed media, using thick impasto paint with lots of texture and color. She describes the process of painting as, 'passionate, expressive, urgent, often using palette knives to scrape and make marks into the paint'.

Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added.
Metal tools and special brushes can be used to shape the paint before it cools, or heated metal tools can be used to manipulate the wax once it has cooled onto the surface.

She is also is a multiple award winner and has taken part and either been placed or won some of the most prestigious awards for Fine Art in South Africa
