ABOUT THE ARTWORK
When I look at this painting I see the Moonlight shimmering across the ocean, then at other times I see a pond, sometimes it is filled with lillies. The painting to me, changes, leaving the viewer open to their own interpretation, the beauty of abstract. Undoubtedly, it is light on water. The process of creating this piece was long, in all it has taken around 15 months to complete, maybe longer. I have often admired the build up of paint on my painting clothes. So, every time I worked in my studio, I smudged and wiped my hands onto this canvas (as I would on my trousers), to create a wonderful build up of colours. This is the background of intricate colours, creating depth and movement. The strong brilliant blues give the painting a very moody feeling, it could be day or night.

My art studio and gallery is based in the beautiful coastal town of Inverloch, South Gippsland, nestled between the calm turquoise waters of Anderson’s Inlet and the rugged coastline of Bunurong Marine National Park in Australia. I have always had a deep connection to nature and the coastal lifestyle, with the ocean being a common theme in my large-scale abstracts. This is also reflected in the pure expression of movement and colour in my work. My paintings seem to capture the ephemeral ebb and flow of the ocean – it’s tumultuous beauty, fierce storms, calm tides – of changing moods, energy and colours. My expanding body of work now includes several series and numerous major commissions. I have recently been featured in both Coast and Art Edit magazines as one of the 'artists to watch'.
