Lilies II Painting

Lilies II – I took the photos for this painting shortly after suffering a family crisis. One day I left my home and the sun was in such a position as to illuminate only the lilies that grew out front while leaving the background in deep shadow. I saw these images as a metaphor ... out of the dark comes beauty, life, color and community – when the time is right. It wasn't until several years later that I decided to use these photos as a basis for a set of paintings, and during that time I grew and prospered. Lilies II was composed alongside Lilies I in 2017, with both paintings utilizing the same palette of 50 colors. Painted with professional grade acrylic paints and gel medium. Sealed with UV resistant clear, gloss sealant. The canvas is 1.5 inches thick, unframed and painted black around the edges. Textured points at the edges range from .25 to .5 inches off the canvas. This artwork is signed in the lower right corner with the artist's signature, a lower case "e". Wire for hanging is attached.
