ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Painted en plein air in Italy circa 2016 while visiting Loiano in the mountains near Bologna. I had an exhibit in Loiano at the Commune gallery and had painted similar landscapes for that exhibit. The sloping hill reveals pastures lands in the distance and the small town nestled between various mountains in the Apennine range. The Apennines or Apennine Mountains are a mountain range consisting of parallel smaller chains extending c. 1,200 km along the length of peninsular Italy. In the northwest they join with the Ligurian Alps at Altare. In the southwest they end at Reggio di Calabria, the coastal city at the tip of the peninsula.
