Looking Through Painting

It started from something personal and intimate. My painting creates a space that works as an extension of self. The space is filled with elements, codes, marks that’s been collected, just like what I do in real life: clutter meaningful and interesting things in my room, and make connections with them through time. “Room” works as the ownership of storytelling and a method to fill in gaps of missing perspectives. It invites the audience to enter the space and make connections with different interpretations. Abby Zhang(b.1996) lives and works in California and New York. She holds an MFA Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute. Abby's work includes painting and art directed videos. Abby is an artist member at Mercury 20 Gallery in Oakland, CA.
