The painting was inspired from a beach near home. Instead of just painting birds, I try to tell a story with the birds' interaction. Because I paint close up to the painting, for the detail, true appreciation of the painting is achieved viewing the painting close up, to see what I saw when I did the painting.

Born 1953 in Australia and now lives on the far South Coast of NSW.An Award winning Professional Artist for 17 years, I have always painted in a meticulous detail style, which comes naturally to me. I am self-taught and I don't intentionally follow any art movement. My oil and acrylic paintings have been consistently of an extremely high quality.Ultra-realist painter is how Richard Siemens describes himself and his works as quality paintings, because Quality is never an accident, it is the result of intention, innovation and skilful execution.Up to seven layers of undercoat are painted on a panel to achieve a paper like finish for the support of Richards paintings. Next, he paints the background with acrylics, mainly with an airbrush, to keep a flat surface. Then, much like the old masters used to do from an outline drawing, which is Richard's blue print, he transfers the foreground to the panel, ready to be painted with oils. This is only a part of Richard's Methodical Technique, which includes the camera and computer. On a finished painting, take note of the three-dimensional illusion of texture and form, created by Richards skilful use of composition, colour and tone. He encourages viewers to look at his work up close, so as to examine his meticulous detail and appreciate the crispness of the realist technique, which does not allow him to be prolific, but precise.Richard's painting subjects have changed through the years and currently he is influenced by birds, but his extremely high standard of work has never altered. He is also now working on publishing his paintings on Giclee Prints.
