About The Artwork

This painting was created in March 2020, a time of global quarantine during the Covid19 pandemic. During this episode of collective loss, fear, and solitude, this painting is a token of love to anyone who is feeling alone. My work is a balance of intention and chance—control versus surrender. The process of letting a painting develop; working with it rather than directing it, is the heart of my painting practice. I find this process to be meditative, and much like life itself. By approaching my own creativity gently and with a spirit of collaboration, I find that inspiration flows through me, and order emerges from the chaos. Perhaps during this difficult period of isolation and apprehension, a similar course of action would be wise. While life pauses, we can find comfort in acceptance while allowing this time to pass through us.
