ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In composing his landscapes, Vincent van Gogh often used the format of a double-square. That is, the width of the canvas would be twice the size of the height. Following his example, I found the format congenial and used it in many landscapes. The dominant yellow in this canvas came from afternoon light in a canyon on the Yuba River, but it felt reminiscent of some yellows in van Gogh’s work. This image is also available as an archival (archival inks and paper) digital print.
