Lumbung Iwak Painting

created this work in 2021 using the best quality canvas and acrylic paint, I made it with a size of 60x60cm. This work is part of a series of “Batu Lumbung” which tells of a legend or site in a remote village far from the previous city. In 2016 I conducted research on the history or legends of a site located on a hill around the village area, which is now completely eroded due to exploration of rock mining and mountainous soil. In this work it reminds us of a story where previously this hill was used as an agricultural field for local residents, which was then planted to carry out rituals as a traditional ceremony with agricultural product offerings. Small lakes are like sunken hills which then carry abundant fish from the sky to the hills then occupy the rocky lake with its abundance which then becomes the natural wealth of the local community. Believed to have a mystical charge, the hillside lake is said to have been guarded by a huge giant snake in a hermitage. Apart from this work, I have previously made an art project about this legend by painting parts of a cliff on a hill that are exploited by the mining industry and also making it a place to educate the local community by making paintings from dust as the constituent material. captures endangered site artifacts.
