Mind? Psyche? Consciousness? Through her artwork, Sophie Mangelsen depicts the poles of human existence and perception, including the unconscious. She interprets and appeals to introspection. Here, perception is deconstructed, reduced to the essential and the fragments reassembled. Harmony and disharmony, balance and imbalance - inner landscapes of the complexity of the mind. Mangelsen‘s informal art appeals to introspection and evokes a both inner and outer dialogue with the viewer. MIND UNDONE is created with gestural strokes and light movement, giving it S. Mangelsen's very personal touch of jazzy elegance, rhythm and finesse. In its simplicity of an understated, subtle palette combined with the energy of bold brush it embraces a dialogue toward lightness, minimalism and introspection. Signed, dated on the back, colored on the edges, framed in a bright, natural pine wood floater frame and ready to hang. + Certificate of Authenticity Berlin, 2021

Sophie Mangelsen creates her very own and characteristically gestural abstractions, giving them her very personal touch of elegance, rhythm and finesse, all in a Berlin understatement vibe. Her informal art appeals to introspection and evokes an inner and outer dialogue with the viewer - posing questions about consciousness and unconsciousness, harmony and disharmony, balance and imbalance - to inner landscapes of the complexity of our mind. Sophie Mangelsen, from Berlin, is additionally inspired on her journey by her experience as a psychologist and therapist. She studied at the Université Paris VIII and the University of Leipzig and found her form of expression in painting already in her youth. Her paintings are shown at international exhibitions and are in private collections around the world. In 2022 she was invited as a jury member in the international competition of BALTHASART. The artist lives in Berlin Kreuzberg.
