About The Artwork

Sitting in a motor vehicle stuck in traffic facing East outside Embankment station, London. My destination the Square Mile, [ AKA The City ]. On this baking hot afternoon I was very drowsy. I fell asleep for a second and in my dreamy condition I saw or dreamt [ dreamed ] of the content of this palette knife, impasto painting. I shall describe the content from the top of the painting. Hot humid weather. The Gherkin Building, to the right the Bank of England, left office buildings and the Flags of tourists, centre top the river Thames and a bus crossing to the South side. Human face carvings displayed in the Tate Modern gallery and back towards the center a young Black man running and laughing. To his left the face of a man in deep thought. Higher and to the left in Red, a Dog, a Cat and a person. Right side centre two left hands , one on a keyboard, the other pressing a button on a machine. To the centre a stern looking woman walking briskly and a man playing a Guitar [ Busking ]. To the left and right the bright colours of summer and the flora of Embankment Gardens. Now to the two animals at the bottom. I call them alternate leg hopping lavender dwellers. The small one was unintentional and I liked the creature that just popped off the pallet knife so with a pen and a brush I gave it a parent. Whilst hopping they keep their other leg tucked up resting in a large pouch. It's funny what can happen to a mind while stuck in traffic and whilst painting.
