I am Tamara Mladenovic, a visual artist born in Belgrade, Serbia. My artistic practice is rooted in painting, jewellery design, and a deep exploration of cultural heritage, symbolism, and traditional artistic expressions.
I graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where I completed my Master’s degree in Painting in 2012. Before that, I studied at the “Tehnoart” School of Arts and Crafts in Belgrade, specializing in art object jewellery. My interest in combining visual arts and craftsmanship has remained an important part of my creative journey.
During my academic years, I developed a strong connection with Asian art and culture, especially Indonesian traditions. Through Indonesian music, dance, costumes, and Batik techniques, I discovered new ways of understanding colour, movement, pattern, and storytelling. In 2014–2015, as a scholarship recipient of the Indonesian Government, I studied Traditional Indonesian Dance at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) in Padang Panjang, Sumatra. In 2021, I continued this cultural exploration through the BSBI Virtual Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship programme in Bali.
My paintings reflect a dialogue between personal expression and cultural influences, combining elements of tradition, movement, and contemporary artistic exploration. I have exhibited my work in Serbia and internationally, continuously searching for connections between different cultures and forms of artistic expression.
Among my most significant achievements is the creation of the silver medallion “Terpsichore” for the National Theatre in Belgrade, awarded annually to the best ballet artist in Serbia. My jewellery works are also included in the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Since 2016, I have collaborated with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Athens, where I teach Indonesian traditional dance. I am a member of the Greek Chamber of Fine Arts (since 2017) and the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (since 2025)
