ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Diptych: 2 paintings of 100x50cm each. The sea near which I live, in Normandy, is a setting which inspires me with numerous ideas of representation of naked and hairless humans, symbolic, who are archetypes. The sea, the sky, the rocks, support a funny couple story here. Woman is like a fertile and light planet that flies away in the wind; man is like a dense cube well anchored in the ground. We can predict that the relationship will not be simple, but each observer can imagine it however they want. The painting is designed as a diptych, the two halves can be placed close or far apart. The painting is executed with oil and Venetian turpentine, one of the main ingredients of the Flemish painters of the 16th century whose technique fascinates me.
