Magpies and the abyss 'SOLD' Painting

Aerosol, ink on canvas on board. In Spring 2013 I went on a field trip to Mungo National Park hoping to find some inspiration and a new direction in style. I'd ended up camping out for six days. On the way there had been more road kill than usual. Before setting up camp i made my way around the park and visited some of the designated visitor spots. The environment was very dry and hot during the day but cold once the sun had set. The place was teaming with wild life, way up high were eagles gliding about and down low were lots of emus, feral goats, kangaroos, insects and reptiles and lots of different types of birds. Id taken some reference photos and came across a information board with lists of scientific names of different types of wildlife around the area. I took a photo of the board as it would help with a more in-depth research online. Mid way through my stay a thunderstorm came through, it started from mid morning then died down late afternoon everything was soaked. Within a couple of hours the ground and trees had soaked up the rain and once again dry. The field trip was aided by some ayahuasca medicine sessions which provided some affirming visions. The nights were clear and the moon was out. Points of lights which were coloured blues, greens and yellows streak through everything. They looked like bits of information running though everything even the dead trees. Silkscreen was used because i had just started to get into the medium and enjoy the challenging process. And find the immediacy of the image quality very satisfying.
