This painting was first started in 2004, you can see the use of gesso to remove ancient titles etc. It's from comic books I used to bring into my art something fully contemporary. Malandra is the feminine of malandro used in Portugeuse in Brazil to describe a dangerous woman.

1962 - England. Liam Porisse the son of a French father and an Irish mother ; simply lived within the art world. His father JulienPorisse (1927-2013) was a painter, exposing his works in the Bohemian area of Montmartre. Paris. Liam graduated in 1983 from Leicester Polytechnic with a BA in fine art. He then returned to Paris , where he studied in the atelier Pierre Caron (1932 - 2022 ), at L'Ecole National Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris. He graduated in 1985 , and then travelled to the USA , and to New York City where met artists such as Keith Haring , David Salle, Jean Michel Basquiat . He returned to Paris where he started to commercialise T.Shirt models and for a number of years had a successful T.shirt company with models such as ART 1989, 1990 & 1991. During the 1980 s Liam Porisse was painting in a very street art visual language , incorporating text , and different styles within the paintings. Neoexpressionism opened the possibility to mix figuration and abstraction . The movement started in the 1970 s in Germany, and its credo was no laws , the artist could use whatever materials he wished the creative liberty was at its maximum . The first representatives were the German artists Anselm Kiefer, Jorg Immendorff and Georg Baselitz. Within the Brazilian artists you can mention Jorge Guinle , Daniel Senise , Fabio Miguez, Rodrigo Andrade, Adriana Varejao and Beatriz Milhazes.Neo Expressionism turned out to be a solid form of expression and was the source of what is produced today. The work of Liam Porisse reflects his formation during this period ,both by the conception and the execution of his works. Technically , the work of Liam Porisse is characterised by a vertiginous process of the use of excessif colouration , his use of impasto , of squeezing the paint through tubes directly on to the canvas . The physicality of his work is obvious and it shows his joy for painting , and the energy that resides in the work. Denise Mattar ( Curator . Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro 1990-1997. Museum of Modern Art São Paulo. 1987-1989).
