Mass Transit Railway Painting

Mass Transit Railway was inspired by riding the train into New York City, laying my head against the window, looking up and feeling the heat on my face while watching the electrical wires floating above, dancing against the glare of the sun drenched sky. As saturated as the colors and the contrast that's at play, I see it as very warm, fun and comforting. This painting is framed in a black aluminum floater frame. As framed, the painting is 45x45x2 Inches. The painting itself is 44x44x1.5 Inches. Despite their names, my art is nonobjective. I am inspired by texture, happenstance and the patina of worn surfaces; natural and manmade. I see grace and nostalgia in their visual history. I think this sensitivity allows me to approach my work with an uninhibited perspective on aesthetics, using color and visual texture as the primary elements in my geometric compositions. Each painting takes me on its own journey in which I intuitively listen and respond, incorporating of a variety of techniques and countless layers of acrylic and mixed media, constantly accumulating and reducing the applied materials until each piece finds its own end.
