About The Artwork
This painting is a tribute to the wonderful naive paintings of my two sons. They always surprise me with their ideas and their realizations. I decided to take one of their ideas and transfer it to my rust painting collection, honoring their creativity. That is how Matilda came into being. This series of steel paintings is called "Bis dass der Rost uns scheidet - Nichts ist für die Ewigkeit." (Until rust devides us - nothing is for eternity). I started this series of paintings, because I am fascinated of the nature and power of rust, its forms and patterns and its dynamic development over time.

I love to "paint" with rust. I chose steel, acids, water and salt as painting mediums because in combination they incorporate nature and its unstoppable way of development, aesthetics and decay.
