ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I created a series of paintings inspired by the annual Agave Heritage Festival here in Tucson. Tequila is made from the Blue Agave in Jalisco, Mexico which is in the land of the Aztecs. The ancient Aztecs considered the Agave plant as sacred. Here is a representation of Mayahuel, the Aztec goddess of Agave as she is seen in the ancient codex manuscripts (except for the rhinestones of course!).
