The series of works of art entitled "Meadows" were born from Petelin's painful observation of the environment and society and its growing (seemingly unstoppable) ingestion of the freedom of color, the right to diversity of forms and life itself. Turning it into an instant ruling monoculture that pushes culture into the depths of the abyss- a recreation of the natural in the wrong direction! Natural is colorful, fragrant, flowering and it breathes. In his creations, Petelin uses many complex art techniques such as oil, watercolor, graphics, ... as well as more basic ones, such as charcoal, graphite, ...By using different materials, textures and techniques on one base such as canvas he is illustrating the importance of diversity and differentness. In nature. In society. His art works are born in nature, with nature and with its help. Color pigments frolicking in the wind. Caressing blades of grass on semi-dry canvas. Raindrops washing away layers of paint; Like the sun, which drinks water from the sea so only the “salt”remains-the pigments giving the art work a life of its own! Such experiments and other techniques uses Petelin. At first glance chaotic, natural forces are very much controlled and observed under the watchful eye of an artist who achieves special color and design effects with the help of nature. Later, the creating process continues in the studio, where the basic materials get the artistic soul and originality to which Petelin aspires by using imprints of hundreds of years old boards and tree trunks. Woodcuts and graphics. He also uses old techniques of wall decoration in traditional Slovenian houses. Connecting earth and color while mysterious symbols of past beliefs in nature are intertwined with cultural memories, ... this and more adorns Petelin's canvases. The art project "Meadows" is the voice of all meadows or therefore people that are being displaced by monoculture. " I'm a meadow and a meadow is me. We breathe. We blossom. We yearn, we nurse the life of summer and disappear in the autumn haze. The rain washes us. The sun opens the shivering flowers of spring. We are the gentle music of the past and the black clouds before the storm. We breathe. We blossom. Above us swarms of dancing bees. The stars. The infinity of star fields. In every blade of grass, in every stone, soil, tree, ... we hear life. Life and that other part of life. We breathe. We blossom. We remember the fresh dew in the morning, the tickling of insects. We remember the coloring – a whole range of colors glowing in the sun. Is this really just a memory? Are we disappearing, my beloved meadow? Let's breathe deeply. Let's burst into blossom - for I am the meadow and the meadow is me." Anže Gallus Petelin, Vail, USA - Colorado, January 2020

The painting of Anze Gallus Petelin: Only a handful of young artists manage to produce an extensive, mature and comprehensive range of paintings. Anze Gallus Petelin is one such artist. His creations follow in the tradition of the College for visual arts, a college, that this talented painter and sculptor comes from. A college, that with this flood of various non-artistic visual practices, carefully cultivates painting, as a fundamental visual art. His work is mature and bold and his artistic outlook is built mainly on knowledge and feeling of ever growing human loneliness in a world of superficial human relationships, a world where communication is transfered into virtual space- and yes, there, everything is possible and all is nice and well and everything turns out great. When this artificial quasi image is uncovered, we are left alone in a real space, ever so small in the vastness of the universe. These are the images that dominate Petelin's canvases. Their address is direct but by no means intrusive or definite, they open a field of universality and humanity and give us a possibility for introspection. Assist. Prof. Mladen Jernejec, M.Sc. Dean of College of visual arts
