About The Artwork

From my Bay sub-series of Melbourne inspired paintings, this extra long panoramic art work is framed in a light timber floating frame with a pearly-silver front edge, picking up on the metallic accents in the final layers of the painting. (pearls, bronzes and coppers are woven throughout the layers This hails from is op long term series, which will touch the hearts of many visitors as well as local Melbourne lovers. Even if you are moved by peaceful boats in a bayside marina, in a harmonious scheme , it could be for you too,if you have a large wall.

Jennifer Webb, Artist in residence at Port Art in Melbourne, has been consistently painting Melbourne skylines, portraying various water views around Melbourne City since her nostalgic return from living outside of Australia. Seeing Melbourne through new eyes renewed her long-term endearment to the city as a source of inspiration in her paintings. Other subjects appear in her series, but throughout the recent years the skylines have dominated. She also makes travel studies of other cities as she is an avid traveller. In the most recent direction in this impressionistic series, her chosen theme (Melbourne skylines) still inspires but the scenes have been stripped back and reinterpreted into their most basic and essential abstract shapes. These studies in implied line, form and colour have very little of the figurative detail of her previous Melbourne paintings, but all of the textures, ambience and mood with hints of recognizable landmarks as subtle yet significant focal points. Other subjects continually developed in series include figures and the ocean, as well as other city skyline series.
