Marrakech is so scenic. From many points in the city you see the tops of the buildings, punctuated with palm trees and minarets, with the snows of the High Atlas looming above them in the distance topped off with bright blue sky. The reflection of this building - the Menara Pavilion - in its lake is especially stunning. Although this painting was done in the studio, it has to be said Morocco is a very good place to sketch and paint outside. The weather is dry, and there are café terraces everwhere at which to sit. Painted on ARCHES, 300g, hot pressed watercolour paper (which has a smooth surface finish) with Winsor & Newton paints. Sold UNFRAMED (it is framed in one of my shots but this is just to give you an idea), unmounted. Painted to the edge of the paper. If you want the painting to really stand out then paying a professional framer will give you best results. But if you look in your art supplies shop you can find the materials to create your own mount and frame.

Born and brought up amid the more muted tones of London, I now live in Vence in the south of France, enjoying its famously vivid light. I am a watercolourist, inspired by travel and the glories of the natural world. My work is figurative and depends on careful observation and choice of colours. My works are owned by private collectors in the USA and Europe.
