ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Grand Prix of the VIII All-Russian Contest of Contemporary Art "ART-PERSPETIVA", participant of the "ANIMALS 2021" exhibition. The image of a mermaid in this work is complemented by a whale washed ashore. The whale is a symbol of the colossal power of nature, it is also an ancient symbol of rebirth. I was inspired to do this by an IWC study on stranded humpback whales. The articles indicate "sound pollution". Marine mammals are guided by an ultrasonic system, and, according to this theory, the radar system on submarines and ships knocks them down and leads to death. However, whales were also washed ashore in the days of Aristotle, when there were no radars. Whales are as mysterious and sad in their essence as mermaids. The painting was carried out strictly according to technology, each new layer was processed with retouching varnish, this guarantees the owner of the painting its durability.
