About The Artwork

This original acrylic painting was created onto a deep edge, stretched canvas. The edges of the canvas are painted with the entire flow of the scenery. A gallery wrapped canvas, ready to hang with d-rings and wire. As the cold snap approaches in Australia, lots of us have the urge to go North. That's what this beautiful marine mammal is doing. This gentle giant of the ocean, a young adult Humpback is heading for a warmer tropical climate. Riding the Eastern Australian current, hints of that in the underwater scene. A stunning, yet mellow, colourful horizon over the water along with an underwater view of a whale heading North. Or South, if you happen to live in the Northern Hemisphere. I have been so very lucky and had the pleasure to witness Humpback whales travel the East Australian water highway. One quiet near, it's simply breathtaking to see. A little bit of coastal, Hamptons feel to this painting. And part of a series with artwork 'Where the Orcas Sing'.

Andrea is a multi-award winning artist who has been published in National and International magazines. She's also been commissioned to create artworks for office spaces and many of her painting have been sold to collectors throughout Australia, Europe and USA. After leaving high school she attended College and University for visual art and design, understanding different techniques and studying the history of the Masters. Over the years she has painted murals in restaurants and kids bedrooms, created artworks to decorate office spaces in Sydney and Melbourne. Andrea sees inspiration all around her and her list is always expanding. But most of her artworks are centred around of her love and appreciation for nature, birds, insects, animals and plants. With nature she’s instantly drawn into the colours, textures and patterns. She then paints it as she envisage it through abstracts. With birds, insects, animals, plants and the occasional landscape she applies traditional fine art, carefully mapping out the artwork to make sure the perspective and ratios are correct. Mixing colours to match and understanding the direction of the light. Andrea also creates figurative surrealism artworks where her vision is to connect humanity more with nature in one artwork. Here she starts with a mood board and plays around with colour combinations before mapping it out on canvas. “I see beauty all around me in nature and understand there is a purpose to every living organism. The human connection, care and respect for these is vital to the survival of mankind.”
