This painting was an abject stream-of-consciousness wreck until I attacked it with dark walnut wood stain. Now it is one of my favorites.

Award-Winning Acrylic Paintings by Thomas Geis I paint with acrylics on a variety of surfaces: canvas, canvas board, chip board, pressed wood, photographic paper, and other repurposed surfaces. My artistic inspirations are the patterns, angles, directions, conundrums, and inner visions that reflect our modern world and my imaginings beyond. My work is instilled with (mostly) positive energy in a colorful, bold, imaginative, and challenging environment. I started painting during the pandemic as catharsis from the turmoil, uncertainty, and isolation surrounding those turbulent times. I have won awards from the Madison Arts Commission for two works, Excubare and popArt2, which will soon be featured on utility boxes at the corner of East Main and South Webster Streets, one block from the Capitol Square in Madison, Wisconsin. I also earned an award of excellence for popArt1 at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Spring Gallery Night 2023. I am a Software Engineer Emeritus who retired from UW – Madison in 2023. My pronouns: he/him/his Some of my key words: Modern, Conceptual, Abstract, Geometric, Cosmic, Vision, Memory, Space, Vision, Inner Perspective, External Growth, Humor, Positive Energy
