This painting was inspired by a beautiful dawn with a storm due later in the day. This might be why the painting seems to be serene as well as energetic... Marguerite was born in Auckland, the great granddaughter of one of New Zealand’s most esteemed artists, Charles Blomfield. (artist)Blomfield painted the famous Pink and White Terraces: In the 1970s while living in London she met and became the companion of the acclaimed pioneering Scottish psychiatrist and writer, Dr. R.D. Laing, whose portrait hangs beside Mary, Queen of Scots in the National Gallery in Edinburgh. When not in London, they spent their time in the enchanted mountains of continental Europe and the United States. After his death, she and their infant son spent a few years in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Colorado before returning to her home in New Zealand. For more nearly twenty years Marguerite has had a successful psychotherapy practice. Her work combined with the years with, the almost incandescent, Ronnie Laing, can impart some of her work with an other-worldly quality, maybe inspiring an deeper sense of the eternal present moment. Many of Marguerite’s original works are held in private collections in London, Rome, California, Colorado, Seattle, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Auckland. The University of Glasgow’s Special Collections Department holds thirty five original drawings and watercolours from her years with Laing FB: Marguerite Therese Laing FB: The Concussed Artist +Laing BBuzzart/Marguerite+Laing +Laing
