"Morning Stroll" is an encaustic piece inspired by my morning walks while living in New England during the icy winter months. The subtle veining of colors and translucent nature of the beeswax/resin medium aids to the delicate appearance of the frozen ponds I would traverse. The cool subtle color pallet gives a sophistication to this piece. The nature of the medium and delicate application allows the light to reflect through the layers pulling the viewer into the painting. The frozen landscape is lined with birch trees, icy puddles and streams. Pale turquoises, citron green highlights, navy shadowing and subtle sienna touches create a soft color scheme. The edges of the painting are finished with imitation gold leaf.

Painting with encaustics brings Lynne’s experiences full circle. As a decorative artist she incorporates layers of plasters, leafing, waxes, stenciling, reactive metals and hand painting to create one of a kind walls for her clients. Encaustics allows her to capture the reflection and layering in a more delicate and intimate environment of the canvas. Drawing from her love of nature and illustration, she creates paintings that are inspired by the beauty in all that surrounds us. She paints images that are both abstract and representational. Layers of her life experiences are present in the use of subtle colors and textures in her paintings. They build and weave into an intricate web of detail, beaconing the viewer to take a closer look. Hopefully pulling you further by the natural undertone of the bees wax that is the essence of her paintings. Working with a torch as her brush, the unpredictability and chemistry involved allows her a certain freedom in her pieces. The amount of heat and density of the various pigments cause the images to be fluid and ever changing. It leaves a sometimes-unexpected treasure behind, creating a language of its own. Lynne hopes the viewer can loose themselves for a moment as they view her work. Whether it is the slight reflection of the surface, the scent of the beeswax or the delicate weaving of the colors much like the treads of a spider web. She hopes her paintings can be the quiet moment in someone’s day.
