About the Artist

Tomasz Glowacz

Poland

Born on 14th February 1981 in Tuchów. He is a graduate of The Secondary School of Fine Arts in Tarnów and the Vocational Fine Arts College in Tarnów where he got a degree of a visual artist and a renovation technician. In 2003 started education in the Faculty of Renovation at the Nicolaus
Copernicus University in Toruń. After a year he came to a conclusion that conservation is a vocation to a beauty of a monument and not just a celebration of a white lab coat… And decided to take up studies at the Faculty of Conservation of Works of Art in Cracow. In 2008 presented a report on the furniture conservation during the European Conservator’s Conference in Helsinki. In 2009 defended his thesis under the supervision of MA Roman Jacek Kieferling at the studio of sculpting techniques and technologies. The thesis entitled “Issues of the Boulle style Marquetry Renovation. Attempt at the use of synthetic resin for the tortoiseshell imitation” was awarded by the Mayor of Cracow, Jacek Majchrowski. In 2007 he graduated from the Vocational College under the supervision of prof. Adam Brincken at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He is a teacher at the Vocational College of Fine Arts attached to the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Tarnów and his faculty is renovation of architectural elements. Since 2012 he has been a co-organizer of annual All-Poland Conservation Conference and Winter Plein Air Painting in Jeżów. He is engaged in monument conservation and painting.
