Set in landscapes or seascapes, Anne depicts the complexity of human relationships and loneliness in a setting that could be perceived as antithetical to those complex moods. Sun is always invited as she seeks to support her point of longlasting uneaseness with stretched shades. By doing so, her style is increasingly realistic and yet retaining certain impressionist sensibilities. Anne wants to first and foremost invite the viewer to think about a state of mind he may have encountered once.I set my subject in an inviting place, in the sun.There are blue skies and warm blue seas. She works with as much layers as possible to play with the transparency of my medium, oil paint, and to depict a place that both reflects calm and timelessness. The painting is about the loss of a sibling in a broad sense, a loss that speaks to different life paths or unprecedented events. Souvenirs encaptured in warm summer days are framed by this shared nostalgia.
