ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This a painting of the Mule Mountains in southeast Arizona. These mountains are home to two small towns which are popular tourist destinations - Tombstone and Bisbee. Bisbee was formerly a copper mining town, however today it is an art colony and high mountain retreat with cooler temperatures than Tucson and Phoenix. The Mule Mountains are one of four mountain ranges which are visible from my home. Consequently mountains are frequently depicted in my paintings. They seem to even unconsciously appear in my abstract paintings. The paintings has heavy texture and was created by a palette knife and generous applications of acrylic paint.
