The name itself is quite suggestive. I was in London then, sitting in my apartment. This downtown neighbourhood was one of the busiest place in London. On a fine summer afternoon I looked out of my window and something caught my eye. A little kid was there on the window sill behind a torn curtain surrounded by some old broken toys. She was playing with her cat. But she was crying for some reason. Later that night again I saw a woman leaning on that window, smoking. Those smoke puffs seemed to write a story of her stressful life. It was like I had been told so many stories that day by that window. This is when I realized that every window is like a canvas to me. These multi-storeys convey so many tales, tales of sorrow, tales of happiness, tales of loneliness...tales of being alive.

I come from Kolkata, a metropolitan city in eastern India. Currently I am living in Cambridge, UK. I've been drawing basically since I was able to hold a pencil. My main interests lie in painting, mostly in acrylic and oil based media. Various forms of visual art attracted me since I was a little child. Even now I delve into the paintings I made when I was a kid, reminiscing those carefree days. Since then, apart from painting, I have been dabbing into the world of sketching, illustration, photography, fashion design and web design. After completing high school, I got caught up in the rat race and completed a Masters degree in economics. I worked as a web designer in a news company for two years. Then I joined a popular magazine company as a story illustrator. Finally, I decided to focus completely towards painting and pursue my dream. As you know, the path of pursuing dream is not easy always. There was a time when even my family didn't support my career choice. This year my artworks were selected in Cambridge Pitt building Exhibition and Cambridge drawing society offered me a membership. The society is the oldest society in UK. The primary inspiration for my paintings stem from a strong subject matter, matters that move me the most and forces me to think about them. Sometimes I like to express these thoughts through some form of symbolism or abstract surrealism. Apart from this I like to perceive how shapes and colors take their natural form in real life. I am also fascinated by the anatomy of the human body. From time to time I study them through still life or figurative painting. My subjects mostly revolve around dark emotions of pain, suppression, suffering ,socio economic class division, burning issues of today's world and loneliness. All my subjects, whether simple Indian women involved in daily tasks, sex workers or even the shiny boots with a noose and blood which depict an autocrat, reflect angst and torment at the hands of a cruel society. The poignant and melancholic images I paint are simply expressions of what I feel and see everyday. Finally I should mention I am inspired by the works of many artists: Dali, Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt , Rembrandt to name a few.
