Conceptually, I was influenced by an image taken by Marcel Broodthaers of the "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles, Section XIXème Siècle." In his Brussels house, Marcel Broodthaers operated the "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles, Section XIXème Siècle" from September 27, 1968, to September 27, 1969. It had a ladder, empty crates, and post cards among its components. Inscriptions and logos on the crates, which were typically used to carry objects of art, emphasized the pieces' fragility. Although the crates were purportedly empty, it was unclear whether they really were. Reproductions of well-known 19th-century artworks were used for the postcards. Here, Broodthaers experimented with the work's veracity and reproducibility. From a formal standpoint, Pierre Bonnard and his "intimate" paintings of commonplace events in serene interiors have been my main sources of inspiration. I want spectators to realize that there is a narrative of artists who founded their own museums in the history of art. Marcel Duchamp (Boîte-en-valise, 1936–1941), Robert Filliou (La galerie légitime, 1962–1963), and Marcel Broodthaers (Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles, 1968–1972) all contributed to the creation of this story.
