This work is another in a series of works that use dots or circles as the main design element. It is a gestural mix of brush strokes, color, and movement; balanced by a dot pattern. The surface is painterly and rough. It is oil and enamel paint on gallery wrapped canvas and all the edges are painted. It will be rolled and shipped in a tube. Al was born in Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 1954. He moved to South Florida in 1979 where he currently resides. ARTIST STATEMENT: Whether I am painting representational pictures or something purely abstract, I want the surface to be energetic and active enough to pull the viewer closer like a magnet. When I paint images my need to understand who I am as a person and the dynamics of the world around me is revealed in some expressive manner. When my work is abstract, I enter a subconscious world where expressive movement and color guide each gesture and shape to completion, and its essence seems to be captured from an endless sea of electronic impulses.
