About The Artwork

Born in 1950 in Clausnitz in the Eastern Ore Mountains. Over the years, a broad oeuvre has been created, in which the focus is on figurative-realistic representation. Langer's focus is on well thought-out lines; by translating his characteristic lines from mental to real space. These lines are an expression of his intense observation and understanding, and are therefore also a metaphor for the interaction of body and mind. In this process lies the actual enthusiasm of artistic creation: the experience of creating, which Langer describes as a fascination for the desire to understand artistic contexts. As a conscious desire to experience lines and colors, this urge to create is considered by Langer to be the motivation for being an artist and is discharged in a will to produce that is aimed at not coming to a standstill through constant practice. In his examination of the model, Langer's works mean the formulation of a still movement. As a representative of figurative contemporary art, working with the model is indispensable for Langer. Under the guidance of the artist, the models complete a kind of "movement training". Movement sequences of the body and facial expressions are tried out in order to translate the various possibilities of conscious movements and facial expressions into an attitude that determines the composition. Langer lives and works in Bannewitz near Dresden, Germany. He is also a graduate engineer in electrical engineering and is self-employed as an entrepreneur.
