Night Club 3 Painting

The main concern in these paintings, as in almost every artistic production, is based on creating a poetic space. The concept of “Night Club” functions as a metaphor for pictures in the linguistic field; Nightclubs indicate an imaginary space based on illusions, a phantasmagoria area, woven with artificial lights, shadows, mirrors, intoxicants and music. The city drawings that form part of the exhibition are inspired by Baudelaire's dark urban romanticism. The subjects of these drawings, which are technically based on voids rather than occupancy, are generally idle areas such as cafes, bars and parks of the city. Another part of the exhibition consists of paintings filled with angel-like figures flying over the city. Winged figures flying over the city are an archetypal representation frequently used in art history; The city becomes objectified, observed and desired through these figures. Another part of the exhibition consists of a series of paintings that can be considered a mixture of still life, landscape and portrait paintings. In the composition, which at first glance resembles a still life painting, objects are presented in a formal situation that refers to a landscape painting; The canvas is a long, thin, horizontal rectangle. Objects open up to the outdoors with shadows in front and space behind them. Again, the portrait/self-portrait in these paintings adds a different space to the compositions. Are these picture frames with photographs, part of a still life? Or is it a mirror in which the person is reflected? Or does it represent an imaginary place that we cannot place anywhere? A hallucination, a dream... Is everything we see and seem a dream within a dream, as in Poe's verses...
