ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting was made whilst I've been exploring concepts around doorways or portals. If you look closely at the background you can find the remnants of an archway that was inspired by Burnham Market priory. The priory has been a motif that returns in many of my paintings, but in this piece, I realized that it would take a step back, and instead my focus was on these characters in the foreground. I have been focused on creating an element of fun or mischievousness in my paintings, especially works that are inspired by my home in Norfolk. This is the first painting where I have experimented with combining these elements of home with elements of Cornwall. This painting is very mixed media, it's made with Oils, Spray paint, Oil pastels and charcoal on canvas stretched around a wooden frame. This piece isn't framed due to scale but I would recommend using L brackets to hang the piece for stability or something similar. The piece will be shipped in a wooden crate, the painting it's self is quite light but the crate will be heavy. Up to 44kg in total.

Delivery Time:

Stemming from the land that surrounds me, my paintings develop from place and grow into strange, spiritual, often surreal places. I feel drawn to unusual and intriguing landscapes that appear to have traces of past human stories lived. For this reason I spend time exploring the relationship between figure and land. I am rooted in exploring these past human stories and how they might transcend through time re-appearing with new importance. The making of my paintings happens much like the narratives, I tend to see them as one and the same. Adding and taking away, the process is much like a journey in itself. I like to think of my paintings as adventures, in process and narrative. The brush marks and figures feel entwined; both exploring the landscape. There is a sense of spirit, guidance and sometimes isolation.
