Living with PTSD means recurring nightmares and night terrors, unfortunately. Here, I feel that I've encapsulated the feeling of waking up after one of my nightmares. It's suffocating, yet beautiful to me. Paper is a bit of a cream colour.

Hi, my name is Victoria and I am an abstract painter. Currently, I live in Nashville, but I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. On the west coast, I spent my time as a writer and have published two poetry books. Since moving across the country, I have rekindled my love for visual art. I work mostly with watercolor and acrylic, marrying my palette knives to the canvas in bold, heavy strokes. Every now and then, I find myself venturing back to impasto abstraction. Most of my inspiration is filtered directly from my own human experiences. I've struggled with mental illness my entire life. In 2014, I was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Through painting, I have found an honest way to help my parts heal from childhood trauma. (Some of my parts even paint, too!) Art has become a staple therapy for me, allowing me to reclaim my story. I like to believe that each piece offers a raw and vulnerable perspective of the world around us.
