About The Artwork
Based on a black and white photograph by Baron de Meyer. I think it captures his beauty on stage in a subtle, melancholic way. One of Nijinsky’s most famous roles was of the faun in 'Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun' by Claude Debussy. I chose this image because to me it captures his essence. An otherworldly, beautiful genius but also fragile creature at the mercy of more powerful ones. Dancers have always related to animals much better than to ordinary mortals for their intense physicality & etherealness, (i.e. the swan, the firebird).

Before anything I am a dancer. As an art form ballet requires the most physical energy and intensity so this was the natural way for me. Technique has never been very interesting for me except as a means to express and a structure to sublimate and destroy. Visual art is a logical progression and I’m very happy in it from the pleasure it gives but also because its given my dancing more nuances & textures.
