ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This picture turned out very diffferent from what I had first envisioned, I had a bright more easy going image in my head but the way the ink combined on the canvas dictated the final image, to me it depicts the battle fields of the first World War with bombs exploding, craters and the trenches, once green fields being churned up and destroyed. On looking again at this work to me it has a very much Brueghel feel about it, it is dark and moody and slightly unsettling but war is lie that.On re reading this it occured to me that I had forgotten to mention the barbed wire which is a main feature of the painting and of course is almost synoymous with the first world war.The picture was recently voted most popular in an exhibition ust before christmas.

The things that inspire me are words mostly from songs or poetry, a word a phrase. The pictures I hope speak for themselves, but I hope they have a narrative somehow and tell a story.I have been painting since childhood.
