Alexander Levich, “No Name”, 2013
Oil on canvas, 120 x 200 cm (47.2 x 78.8 in)

It really takes time to perceive this large scale piece of art. At first you are likely to notice only dark silhouettes of trees on a white-grey background of snowy evening. Please look more carefully and you will soon realize some distant lights and structures behind the trees … and this is when your imagination comes into play…

This painting is from the “Weekend” series of works, which may be described as follows: … One day spent together. Rented house. The snow covered everything within an hour. A grey veil outside the window, impression like the house is flying. And nothing exists around us anymore. Only two of us …

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Step into the enchanting world of Alexander Levich's 'No Name,' an extraordinary large-scale oil painting that invites you on a journey of discovery and emotion. The canvas portrays a snowy evening scene that unfolds its beauty gradually, much like the unfolding of a captivating story. At first glance, dark silhouettes of trees stand tall against a serene white-grey background, reminiscent of a misty winter park. As your eyes explore the composition, smaller details emerge, revealing distant lights and structures hidden amidst the snowy landscape. The artist's deft brushwork, characterized by softness and delicacy, lends a touch of realism to the piece while leaving room for imagination to fill in the narrative gaps. In its contemporary realism style, 'No Name' captures the viewer's attention with its enigmatic ambiance, evoking a sense of mystery, romance, and introspection. As you engage with the painting, you might feel transported to that very moment when the snowstorm veiled the world in a grey embrace. The artwork is an intimate reflection of the artist's personal experience during a late November snowstorm, followed by a romantic evening, which he eloquently expressed as: "...the snow suddenly covered everything within an hour. A grey veil outside the window, impression is that everything outside is flying... and nothing exists around us anymore... Only me and my loved one, just two of us..." Its generous dimensions of 120 x 200 cm immerse the viewer, transcending the boundaries between art and reality. With this masterpiece, Alexander Levich has captured not just a snowy scene but an entire world of emotion and contemplation. By allowing imagination to interact with the evocative elements, the artwork forms a unique bond with each observer. For collectors yearning to add depth and mystery to their collection, 'No Name' offers an unmissable opportunity to possess a visual symphony of emotions.

What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at .
