I believe that I have condensed elements into a more focused way of expression. The intention towards the works never was to represent anything, but to express the feelings generated during the process of the individual having to deal with itself. I try to avoid the description of ideas, facts and concepts, what is hard to do when it is about figurative painting, and more, representational art..... as I don't intend to represent anything, only to use the external light reflected by skin and its volumes on my own face as model for painting. The real intention behind the works is producing expression by itself. Expression of individual issues behind the struggle for self development and self improvement, but making the artwork to become as independent as possible from the author on its feelings, life and destiny. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CAIO FERN's work is sometimes described as Realist, "though the sheer intensity of his work sets him apart from most contemporary Realist painters. With a highly individualistic style of painting, Caio reveals the raw physical characteristics and inner tensions of his subjects which proposes an intricate set of perspectives of the "self", is apparent in his self-portraits. Though Caio affirms that a self-portrait can only be considered as a visual reflection of himself, "There is no conceptual speech behind it," he believes strongly that the only important thing is the painting itself." ?search=caio+fernandes&filter=all&commit=Search --------------------------------------- I have worked with self portraits and its many possibilities of getting deeper into the image and/or fragmentation for revealing psychological movements independent of a relation with the space . please visit : and see my books :?search=caio+fernandes&filter=all&commit=Searchthank you !!
