ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Psychology is in the core. All paintings in this collection are linked by the main theme of social disconnection and were created to discover the reasons behind failing relations between people. Each painting shows a character in a different emotional statement, a different atmosphere, but they all represent symbols of the same theme. Faceless. Sexless. Skin colourless - Free from prejudgment? The Box on the head is a very significant symbol in these paintings. They are used to hide emotions, appearance, eyes and facial expression, because we put a lot of labels on people based on their haircut, skin tone, color of their eyes and gender. To avoid it in these collection you see a human body in its pure symbolic meaning. Now, when there is no face, no genitals, no skin tone, you can not apply your automatic perception, so you are forced to think a bit more before making decisions, just because there is no place for your past experience, there is only space for the present moment.

Welcome to my online gallery! I am a traditional and digital artist from Ukraine, currently living in Netherlands. I create different types of paintings / drawings, using different mediums. Now I am focused on discovering different social and psychological situations in my art, so mostly my pictures are about different interpersonal, inner (mental), global social psychological and sociological situations. I am very interested in psychology in general, so it is very natural for me to put the results of psychological experience into my artwork. Most of the pictures were created after inspiration by very deep emotional influence, going through real life situations. Sometimes I was a part of those situations or just read, heard about them from my friends. Those emotions and the result of analyzing usually become a base for creating my art. I experiment with different techniques, combine different materials (pencil, pen, ink, watercolor, acrylic, oil, etc.), continue working on some artwork digitally (drawing with graphic tablet).
